Release the Beautiful!
Redbuds blooming in Texas springtime…
I've been thinking a lot about the way I make and share my work.
A lot of my music can be found on the streaming platforms and I have beautiful music videos on my site, Vimeo, Youtubeand social media. I've done some wonder-full and amazing collaborative and solo live performances and shared video documentation of those performances as an art form in and of itself.
Aside: note how I write about my work: beautiful, amazing, wonder-full. I am honoring Creative Self!
I have more music and videos in-process, however, I've been too discerning about what to work on and what to release.
By ‘too discerning,’ I mean how I choose one project because I think another isn't ‘worth’ working on. So, now I’m going through my projects indiscriminately: I’m not choosing projects by arbitrary priority—I'm just doing them one at a time…
“Realizing and releasing beauty into the world…one song at a time”
Will these works become an album? An EP? Will I release some of the tracks onto the big streams like Apple and Spotify where some of my other music is? Maybe. I like releasing my music and videos on social media and Bandcamp because it’s immediate. I also love sending tracks to friends in texts and DMs. I LOVE IT.
But the fact is, I'm feeling way more in the groove of creating by taking my Inner Editor out of the picture and just making and releasing my work: I imagine a formidable and stunning raptor, launched from the loving hands of her human rehabilitator, taking flight into a cloudless big big big blue sky. Yes. Like that.
Here’s an ongoing collection of current tracks on Bandcamp…
