Misha Penton Houston, Texas Misha Penton is a contemporary opera singer, composer, director, and filmmaker based in Houston, Texas. Her projects blossom in many forms: live performance, audio projects, video works, site specific / installation performances, visual art works, and writings.

‘Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening’ is Rorem's 1947 masterful and dreamy setting of the Robert Frost poem of the same title published in 1923. Not my usual fare, but this hasn’t been a usual year. I’ve spent a lot of time at the piano with Rorem’s songs over the past some-many months, as well as releasing my own music as the video works Visible Darkness, the (micro)Requiem, and my Micro Opera series.

Maimy (in Austin) and I (in Houston) created this Rorem recording remotely. She recorded the piano tracks and I recorded the voice, and we sent versions back-and-forth until we were happy with the results.

Todd Hulslander at Houston Public Media worked his mastering magic as he usually does on all of my recordings.
